When the Astoria Column was erected in the year of 1926 at the top of Coxcomb Hill, it was to mark the inception of the first
permanent American Settlement west of the Rocky Mountains. When visiting this fantastic cultural attraction, you’ll want to
allot some time to climbing the 164 steps which spiral along the edge of the column, which towers at a colossal 600 feet.
